Alpha Drop Tupps Brewery Review

Overall Score: 6.6 Alpha Drop is the ‘alpha’ of beers when it comes to haze and juice. This is heavy beer that nails it on creativity, but loses points for flavor and low to moderate hops.

Brewery Insights: Tupps is a fickle brewery with an awful website, so the commentary comes directly from the can (I’m a moron and can still figure out how to create a blog and write a paragraph, get your shit together Tupps). Alpha Drop is an IPA brewed with galaxy, nelson sauvin, cryo citra, and cryo mosaic hops.

Review

Overall Score: 6.6

Alpha Drop has extreme haze with a cloudy appearance and foamy head. The initial sip is absolutely wild with moderate citrus flavors and elevated juiciness. The mouthfeel is heavy, distinct and unique – which will scare some and entice others. The hops are low to moderate, but deserve respect for showing up to the party with the intense haze and juice (double dry hopped helps this IPA). This is a creative beer and worth the purchase.

Degenerate Discussion

Alpha Drop is dripping with haze and juice like a woman hanging out with The Rock (or me for that matter, don’t ask questions). This is a beer that will divide the beer community, but America should be used to division in 2021, hell we almost embrace it at this point. The hops help balance the beer and do just enough to let you know you’re drinking an IPA. They come through more clutch than the fat dude that shows up to the party with extra liquor when the party ran out…you have to appreciate the big fellas for keeping the party going. Big is beautiful when you need more alcohol – and it’s beautiful in Alpha Drop with big, hazy flavors. Just don’t expect to be completely blown away. We recommend grabbing a can or two versus a six pack. Shoutout to our fat homies and cheers Degenerates!
