Brewery Insights: Fear Movie Lions is Stone’s take on a New England-Style IPA with incredible hops, mild bitterness, and tropical flavors.
Review
Overall Score: 6.8
Fear Movie Lions has a moderate and balanced look. The palate follows the appearance as you’re treated with a citrus-forward DIPA and medium hops. My initial reaction was one of concern, but the hops developed in the middle and remained subtle in the finish. Stone achieved their intention to combine a DIPA with a New-England Style IPA, and for that, we give them credit. However, I’m probably not the best audience for this beer and prefer other offerings from Stone. This beer won’t surprise you, so you can judge if this would meet your palate’s desires.
Degenerate Discussion
Fear Movie Lions has the song Certified Gangsta stuck in my head for the lyric, “Lions, tigers, bears, oh my.” (yes, we know this lyric originated with Harold Arlen’s song, but no one listens to that shit) This is an average beer from an awesome brewery. This was the 8th or 9th beer I enjoyed that night, so I started freaking out looking at the can thinking it was turned upside down. Thank god I wasn’t high…cheers Degenerates!
