Brewery Insights: The French Toast Temptress is part or the Seduction Series from Lakewood Brewing. Temptress is the common stout line from Lakewood, which includes variations and spinoffs for seasonal beers. Not surprisingly, the French Toast Temptress seeks to bring maple syrup and French toast flavors by leveraging cinnamon, vanilla and semisweet chocolate, with a touch of maple syrup.
Review
Overall Score: 6.1
The color is standard for stouts and the pour is consistent with all beers, whereas some stouts are heavier. On a blind smell test, most consumers will identify the maple syrup scents. No surprise French toast is the intended taste for this beer. The syrup and vanilla notes bring a moderate French toast flavor to your palate. While the overall experience of the beer is average to above-average, they nailed the subtle flavors of French toast, which makes this a fun drink. The 9.1% brewing limits the stout, and it lines up with other offerings from Lakewood – solid, but not exceptional. It brings you back to the days of elementary when French toast sticks from the freezer were a legitimate lunch. It’s easy to understand why we turned out to be Degenerates, but the crazy thing is, I loved those shitty French toast sticks and the maple syrup that was more syrup than maple. Grab a French Toast Temptress, suppress or enjoy your elementary memories, and cheers Degenerates!
