Brewery Insights: Gettin’ Tiki With It pays homage to PiƱa Coladas by providing a wheat ale with coconut and pineapple flavors, and adds nitro for a twist.
Review
Overall Score: 6.1
Gettin’ Tiki With It has heavy nitro, which creates a thick foam on the initial pour. The palate is bursting with sweet pineapple flavors that dissipate in a creamy and light finish, which is a result of the lactose. The beer profile is subtle with no bitterness and limited malt flavors. The longer the beer sits, the worse it tastes, so our best Degenerate advice is to consume it quickly. The flavors, use of nitro and lactose, and high ABV make this a creative offering deserving of decent points. Those that favor this style of beer will rank it higher, whereas, IPA enthusiasts and bolder palates will score it lower.
Degenerate Discussion
Gettin’ Tiki With It’s foam is thicka than a snicka. Look at the crazy head from the nitro…and probably my shitty pour, since I drank this after a pub crawl. Tropical and island vibes come through strong, which is odd considering it’s brewed in Colorado and they’re more commonly known for weed and snow (we mean actual snow in this context, not cocaine). The weed seems to fit the island style well, so we’ll give it a pass. I scored this higher knowing there’s an audience for it, but those with a bolder palate will prefer drinking platypus cum (put me in that category). Cheers Degenerates!
