Review
Overall Score: 5.8
Nemesis is dark mahogany in color, which is surprising for a barleywine, but not when you consider the use of roasted malts (same as stouts). The palate is more confusing than the appearance as the bitters standout, even with the high complexity of this beer. It’s a bold and unique palate, but it’s not delicious. Nemesis tastes like a combination of a barleywine, stout, and IPA wrapped into one beer. I enjoy all three of these variations, but I wouldn’t suggest putting all of them together. Nemesis gets high creativity points and loses points for taste (the most important part of the review). There’s a market for this beer, unfortunately, it’s a small one.
Degenerate Discussion
Nemesis is the likely outcome of a stoner brewer that dabbled in acid for the first time and had a vision to combine a bareleywine, stout and IPA. He figured it worked with the grilled cheese and Flamin’ Hot Cheeto sandwich, so why not this? Well, Nemesis is the answer to the question on ‘why not.’ This beer tastes like Donkey Kong’s dick dipped in oil…but we still appreciate the hustle and creativity of Founder’s for trying to pull this off. It just didn’t work. Cheers to DK and our Degenerates!
