Space Pope Cigar City Brewing Review

Overall Score: 6.1 Space Pope provides moderate hops, citrus, and juice. The balance may attract some, but it makes it hard to standout and receive creativity points.

Details

Brewery Insights: Space Pope leans towards passionfruit and melon flavors with a clean, base malt. It’s brewed with Mosaic, Galaxy, and Hallertauer Blanc hops…the site says some other weird shit, but this is the normal stuff.

Review

Overall Score: 6.1

Space Pope has a large head from elevated carbon dioxide (I promise I’m not a complete moron pouring a beer). The juicy hops are on full display with lighter colors from the Mosaic and Galaxy hops. Fortunately, the palate presents with moderate hops to balance the flavors. The hops aren’t special, but they’re better than you expect. This is a refreshing IPA with strong citrus and tropical notes that don’t overpower and ruin the experience. Space Pope seems like a beer everyone buys once because Cigar City is a decent brewery, but I’d be shocked if anyone endorsed it…In closing, I just hope the Space Pope doesn’t have to deal with as many scandals as the Earth Pope. Cheers Degenerates!
