Brewery Insights: Thick Haze is intended to provide ‘giant’ hoppiness with intense flavors that lean to pineapple, mango, and melon. Citrus and hops are the name of the game here for this New England Style IPA.

Review

Overall Score: 5.0

Oskar Blues as a brewery is comparable to apple pie. Everyone likes apple pie, but it’s the favorite pie of like 5% of people, and no one gives a shit about it unless it’s accompanied by ice cream and caramel. Apple pie is the ultimate mediocre pie, and Oskar Blues is the same as a brewery. All of their beers are decent, but they don’t do enough to impress. Thick Haze falls perfectly into this classification. The marketed ‘giant’ hops are nowhere to be found and the flavors are similar to many other beers. This isn’t a bad purchase, but it’s an average drink, and I’d be surprised to hear anyone argue otherwise.
